Special place for our best threads

I really think we need a 'Best Of Forum' section. A place where new members can go and get a sampling of some of our best hand discussions, most relevant articles about over arching principles, or basically anything I've ever contributed to:cool:

I know that there are a few threads I'll send to any prospective players that ask me for tips about how to become a profitable player and this would be a much simpler way to do it.

We've had many inspired threads, this way we wouldn't forget about them.

Easy way to do this, click the search box, type in "Dr Fill Good" and then voila. A best of forum all prepared for launch.

I'll peruse for some more later on. Most of these are from the Poker Room subforum.

Our recent thread of stop/go, push, or standard raise also had a lot of good argument and debate.

I tend to prefer hand analysis with no clear answer, which I think we definitely encountered with that one...

i have an idea that could work too!!
we can add a section of

competitions-where it list all the the competitions and events that we have done such as isop, king of sng, april 2009 contest, may 2009. all those good things this will show that the site is frequently active and up to date with events and member stats. Also it will give bragging rights to members that have won events and competitions this would encourage new members to compete and perhaps join and test their skills with some of the best of this forum.

Best of great idea...good for referring players to the site...

Another idea not sure if people'll like it but creating a Links to other sites (Sharkscope, OPR, etc..) that don't "compete" with this site (2+2 and other forums) but are for poker fans (Bluff mag, Pro websites, Dublin Belly Busters).

Just a thought...

Everyone seems to really like this idea, so I've moved it into it's own thread in the public area. :)

Next we need to figure out the best way to actually implement this concept. Here are some of the ways I can think of.

1. We could create a completely new forum category called 'Best of BadBeatsPoker', and MOVE all these threads there. The down side to this is that the threads will no longer be located in the place where one would expect to look for them. For example, our best SNG strategy thread could no longer be found in the SNG Strategy category.

2. We could create a completely new forum category called 'Best of BadBeatsPoker', and COPY all these threads there. The down side to this is that the threads would now be duplicated, and any new posts to one of the two threads would only appear in one of the two locations.

3. We could simply 'sticky' each 'Best Of' thread, so that it always appears at the top of it's respective forum category. This approach seems the most logical to me right now.

What do you all think?

I saw we move all the threads to a new forum, lock the thread so noone can reply, and the last post will be a redirect link to where they can reply.

The purpose is so we can give a single URL to show a prospective user the best of the best. This is why I don't think sticky aligns with this goal.

I think the guy who started the Beating 45's thread is brilliant, and should be paid royalties.

i agree with this thread 100% i think it is a great idea as well.. being somewhat new to the site i know my way around a little now but this is a great idea for the site.. this will help the newbies who are looking for information greatly..
I dont know if this was already said or not i didnt read thru every response but maybe if possible create a section labeled best of forum other than sum links to find it.. that way all these great discussions and threads will be just labeled in there own field...

I think just a simple Icon for maybe the real hot treads or have another Icon for the best of BBP Threads. That away each Thread can stay in place. :biglaugh:

I think this is a good plan. I'm not pro/anti-locking, because I'm not sure what the goal of locking it would be.

I think some should probably be stickied though. For example, an excellent strat article probably is better suited stickied in strat.

you could have a stick category for great threads or have a category area for great threads that no one can post a new thread

I'd like to resurface this thread. Let's try to nail down our best ten or twenty threads of all time. Once we have the list compiled, we can put them all together in their own section. :)

just a few suggestions off the top of the head to get the ball rolling....

I've thought about this and I think the best way from a logistic point of view is the following:

We sticky a thread perhaps in the announcement area with a post that has links and maybe a short description to all of the best threads. This way a member clicks the link, is taken to the actual thread and can reply or peruse as needed. There is no extra forum area, we can lock the thread so others can't reply and is easy to add to as necessary.

First of all I think that any of the Best Of threads should not be removed from their original sub forum. I don't see why they could stay where they are at, perhaps stickied, and also appear in a Best Of sub forum.


I haven't researched much but I do like the BR Management thread as well as the Tell Us Your Story thread.

The rail thread for scotts deep ME run in 2009 is good. Lappins favorite movies thread is also good.

For those who have made suggestions if you wouldn't mind putting links to the threads in that would make it a bit easier for me to compile them.
