My Vegas musings.

Sorry about my recent span of inactivity. Life has its twists and turns....and in those whirlwinds, I've had little time, desire or funds to play poker. Which is a real waste, being that I live in the fishtank known as Vegas.
So I finally broke out of the slump and played the Caesar's 7pm tournament on Thursday. I have made remarks before about being card dead, but this was a new record. I played until 9:30. The only pot I won was one I had limped into with K8 of spades and managed to sucker along another person who hit trip Kings but only had a 7 kicker. That was it. I actually (and this is no lie) never saw one single pocket pair all night, nor did I ever see an AK, AQ, AJ or even A10. The best I had was A9. And in the end, as blinds increased, I shoved with KQ suited and got called by A9 off and I hit nothing.
The next day I decide to give the Venetian tournament a roll. Literally 3 minutes into the tournament, 2nd hand.....I get it all in with pocket nines on a 773 flop against one other person. I should preface this by saying that after the flop, I check raised him 3x his bet and he thought awhile, but called. After the turn, I check raised him ALL IN. He called and had Queens. Dumb move on my part? Maybe....but in that spot, and the way I played it, he wasn't a good enough player to lay down queens and you can feel free to give me feedback on that. But 2 check raises?? I could easily have AA, KK or 33 or even a dumb 7 for all he knows. He had made it 150 preflop. I could have called him with ANY of those things.
At any rate, I was super pissed so I went shopping. Then I came back to Venetian with a vengeance to earn back all my tournament buy ins, plus the money I had spent clothes shopping the past 2 days. I bought into 1-2 NLHE for $200 and within 40 minutes was up to $430. At the end of my very short 2 hour session, I came out with my buy in of $200 plus about $450 more. So I paid for my clothes and the noon tournament screw up. Not bad for 2 hours work
That is all I really got in this weekend. I will try more cash, but I'm swearing off tournaments (again, I know), because I always succeed more in the cash game.
Oh and right now it's right around 50 degrees here, which makes no sense to me. And I know I'll sound like a whiner, but it feels freaking freezing!!!![]()
